Zhejiang Geely Holding Group’s all-electric premium brand, Zeekr, has unveiled its first car, the 001, and it promises to end the days of “dull EVs.” Built at Geely’s Hangzhou Bay facility, the Zeekr 001 will be offered in China and select global markets.
Featuring a four-door hatchback or shooting brake body style with a coupe-like roofline, the Zeekr 001 was penned at Geely’s Gothenburg design studio. It features a 118.3-inch wheelbase and has a length of 195.6 inches, landing it squarely in the mid-size territory. The Zeekr 001 rides on a new dedicated EV platform and has a standard air suspension.
Powering the Zeekr 001 are two electric motors with a combined output of 536 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. This allows the car to spring to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.8 seconds, according to the brand. The electric motors can also spread power across individual wheels for improved traction and stability. Two battery packs will be available: a standard 86-kWh unit and an optional 100 kWh upgrade.
Sales of the Zeekr 001 will start in China this year. Zeekr plans to have two flagship stores and 60 smaller “Zeekr spaces” inside shopping malls supported by 60 service centers and 36 delivery centers. Subscription and battery leasing services will also be offered at a later time.
