Refreshed 2026 Genesis Electrified G80 sedan offers more luxury and longer range

The Genesis brand’s first all-electric model is getting a significant update. The refreshed Electrified G80 sedan gains some welcome enhancements, including more passenger comfort and additional range.

Initially unveiled in China last April, this stately four-door was also on display at the Busan International Mobility Show in South Korea last week, the first time the car’s been exhibited in the Genesis brand’s home country; this is also the first time we’ve gotten a look at the updated model.

The biggest news with the refreshed Electrified G80 sedan is, well, how big it is. The car’s wheelbase has received a not-inconsiderable 130-millimeter stretch, an increase of about 5 inches. This change is designed to increase backseat comfort, allowing the car to accommodate reclining VIP rear seats with leg rests, something that delivers a luxury experience that’s comparable to what the larger — and pricier — Genesis G90 sedan provides to passengers.

This updated four-door also gains a back window curtain, push-button EasyClose doors and new 19-inch dish-style wheels. The charging port swing panel should also power open and close now, further elevating the ownership experience.

Visually, this is still a large, imposing sedan with a prominent grille flanked by signature two-line headlamps. The stretched hub-to-hub span and increased body length aren’t immediately noticeable; the car still looks handsome and clean. The new wheel design, with its smooth surface, is refreshing and attractive as well.

Aside from the extended wheelbase, another huge change made to the Electrified G80 is right under your feet. The battery pack’s capacity has been increased to 94.5 kilowatt-hours, up from just 87.2 before. In EPA testing, the current car offers an estimated 282 miles of range, though the new model is expected to provide about 295 miles (475 kilometers) on a full charge. That’s enough juice to get you basically the entire length of South Korea without having to charge, that is, from Seoul, the capital, all the way to Busan, the nation’s second largest city, which is located on the country’s southeastern coast.

The renewed Genesis G80 is just about ready to launch, and is slated to go on sale in Korea this August. You can look for this updated car in the U.S. next year as a 2026 model.
