Rear-wheel-drive Macan and Macan 4S launched by Porsche

Porsche has announced the addition of a new rear-wheel-drive Macan model and a new Macan 4S to its all-electric SUV lineup. The rear-wheel-drive Macan is designed for efficiency, while the Macan 4S offers up to 380 kW (509 hp) of overboost power. Additionally, Porsche has introduced an optional off-road design package for increased off-pavement usability across all models.

The new rear-wheel-drive Macan features a high-voltage 100 kWh battery and a rear-axle motor with an output of 250 kW (335 hp). It is equipped with a 480-amp pulse inverter with silicon carbide transistors to enhance efficiency. This model can produce up to 265 kW (355 hp) of overboost power and 415 lb.-ft of torque, reaching 60 mph in 5.4 seconds with a top speed of 136 mph.

The Macan 4S is positioned between the existing Macan 4 and Macan Turbo. It includes a new rear-axle motor and a 600-amp silicon carbide pulse inverter, delivering a system output of 330 kW (442 hp) and a short power overboost of up to 380 kW (509 hp). This model achieves 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 149 mph. The Macan 4S comes with Adaptive Air Suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management as standard, with options for Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus and rear-axle steering for enhanced performance and comfort.

Both new models incorporate the second generation of Macan features, including aerodynamics optimized for range (cw = 0.25), and an 800-volt architecture allowing a DC charging capacity of up to 270 kW. The high-voltage battery can charge from 10% to 80% in about 21 minutes under ideal conditions using a DC fast-charging station.

Porsche has introduced a new exterior color, Slate Grey Neo, and a 20-inch Macan S wheel for all electric Macan models. The new off-road design package, available for all models, enhances the approach angle and ground clearance, facilitating better handling on rough terrain. This package includes a front bumper with a modified geometry, air suspension, and 21-inch off-road design wheels.

The Porsche Driver Experience has been updated with a new display and control system. It includes a 12.6-inch curved instrument cluster, a 10.9-inch passenger display, a head-up display with augmented reality, and ambient lighting. The screens feature a new welcome animation and a Themes app for customizing the background color and ambient lighting.

Both new Macan models are available for order, with U.S. deliveries expected to begin in Q4. The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Pricing starts at $77,295 for the Macan and $86,895 for the Macan 4S, including delivery.
