Lucid is one of the most intriguing startup companies in the automotive industry. The luxury brand’s all-electric Air sedan not only looks great, but it offers staggering performance and range, is loaded with technology and coddles passengers with a super-premium interior. The Lucid Air Pure is the entry-level version of this all-electric luxury sedan. Starting at around $87,400, the car is fitted with a metal roof and will launch with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain. Additional specifications will be announced onNov. 155, so stay tuned for all the details.
Stepping one rung up the ladder, Lucid bills the Air Touring trim as the quintessential model in the range, one that offers “the best balance of performance, luxury, design, and space” according to a media release. With a starting price of $107,400, this car is not cheap, but it promises to give drivers a lot. Two different battery pack sizes will be on the menu and it even offers an all-glass roof that stretches from the base of the windshield rearward over theback seatt passengers’ heads. That last model listed in the previous sentence is the top-dog offering in the Air family. The Sapphire trim promises more than 1,200 horsepower (making it the world’s most powerful sedan, at least according to Lucid), enough to give the car a top speed north of 200 mph. As for acceleration, the Lucid Air Sapphire is expected to do the 0-to-60-mph deed in less than 2 seconds, which is an organ-scrambling, bone-crushing performance, one that will literally take your breath away.
