Prospective Kia EV6 GT buyers wondering if they’ll also receive 1,000 kWh of free charging from Electrify America now have their answer. Electrify America and Kia America have expanded on their previous agreement, which was announced earlier this year, to now include the high-performance GT model. That means every EV6 model in the lineup will get 3,500 to 4,000 miles of free charging, although we suspect most EV6 GT owners will be on the lower end of that estimate as they enjoy the 576 horsepower the high-performance crossover has to offer.
Owners will have up to three years from the date of purchase to use the complimentary charging and it’s highly recommended to download the Electrify America app to find a charger near you.
Revealed earlier this year in Monterey, the EV6 GT boasts 576 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque, propelling it to 60 mph from a standstill in just 3.4 seconds. Its 77.4-kWh battery pack provides an estimated 206 miles of range, which is a bit on the lower end. But that’s the price to be paid for more power. Thankfully, the EV6 GT, like all other E-GMP models, benefits from 800V fast charging capabilities. Find yourself a 350-kW Electrify America charger and you’ll be able to go from 10% charge to 80% charge in under 18 minutes.
“Working closely with automakers to provide seamless fast charging solutions is critical to expanded EV adoption, and we’re excited to collaborate with Kia to help make the transition to an electric lifestyle even easier for new EV owners,” said Giovanni Palazzo, president and chief executive officer of Electrify America. “Public charging offers drivers a convenient way to charge quickly away from home and is a critically important opportunity to instill range confidence in EV drivers.”
