Hyundai EVs gain access to Tesla Superchargers

Starting today, Hyundai owners in the United States who own the Kona Electric, Ioniq Electric hatchback, Ioniq 5, and Ioniq 6 models equipped with a Combined Charging System port can access 20,000 Tesla Superchargers across the country. In order to access the Tesla Superchargers, owners will need a North American Charging Standard adapter. Those who purchased any of these Hyundai electric vehicles on or before January 31, 2025, will receive instructions via email on how to obtain their adapters starting the week of April 7.

Hyundai has developed this DC fast-charging adapter specifically for its battery electric vehicle lineup, including those built on the e-GMP high voltage platform. This initiative effectively doubles the number of DC fast-charging stations available to Hyundai EV owners, enhancing their charging options.

Eligible owners can receive one complimentary CCS-to-NACS adapter per vehicle. To qualify, they must have an active MyHyundai account and have opted to receive email communications. The process for claiming the adapter requires customers to verify their account information upon receiving the email invitation and to confirm acceptance of the terms and conditions. If the shipping address is incorrect, customers will be directed to update it before receiving the adapter.

Hyundai is committed to supporting electric vehicle adoption by offering models with competitive charging speeds, integrating NACS ports in future vehicles, and expanding charging infrastructure through various initiatives. The 2025 Ioniq 5 and other upcoming models will feature built-in NACS ports, eliminating the need for an adapter for Tesla Supercharger access. This offer is exclusively available to Hyundai Motor America EV customers, with further information for Canadian customers to be provided later.
