On launch day for the 2022 GMC Hummer EV, the company quickly sold out of the Edition 1 versions of the vehicle. Equipped with 3 motors and over 1,000 hp, the Edition 1 is the fastest of the Hummer EVs.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the General is considering offering up more of the Edition 1s for sale. A dealer who attended a national meeting last week said they’re considering it.
“The Hummer Edition 1 sold out in 10 minutes and they said they had enough orders for it to fulfill their first year of production currently,” said a dealer who attended the meeting. “But they are evaluating if they can build more.”

GMC won’t say how many reservations they took for the Edition 1, and of course they don’t comment on future product or speculation on future product, but it’d be a bit silly to not sell more of the high-end truck.
With a price of $112,595 plus the exclusivity of having your model made first late next year, it makes sense it should out quickly. It also makes sense to offer up more, if they have the production capacity to do it.
Compared to a normal top-of-the-line Hummer EV, the GMC Hummer EV3X, the Edition 1 makes 200 more horsepower and has 50 more miles of range.
If you’re going to spend the money, spend the money. Which is why GMC is likely considering opening up more for the order banks.
