Genesis revealed the X Gran Equator Concept yesterday, introducing its first adventure vehicle concept ahead of the 2025 New York International Auto Show. The concept car blends rugged design elements with the brand’s “Athletic Elegance” design language, signaling a possible future direction for Genesis in the lifestyle and overlanding segment.
The vehicle features a long hood, sleek profile, and fast C-pillars, which contrast with large 24-inch beadlock wheels and dark cladding around the wheel arches. The geometric auxiliary lights and split-opening tailgate emphasize practicality alongside Genesis’ signature Two-Line headlamps. While Genesis has not confirmed whether the X Gran Equator is an EV, the closed-off front end strongly suggests an electric powertrain.

The interior of the concept continues the theme of contrasts, combining analog-inspired features with digital interfaces. At the center is a four-circle display cluster modeled after vintage camera dials. Swiveling front seats and modular storage components aim to increase utility while maintaining a clean, minimalistic cabin design. The dashboard is intentionally sparse, directing attention to the road and surroundings.
The name “X Gran Equator” draws inspiration from Equator, an Arabian stallion known for endurance and power, qualities Genesis wants to convey in the vehicle’s character. Though the model is not confirmed for production, its design features — including integrated roof rails and the unique tailgate — preview elements that could appear in future Genesis offerings.
The concept will be on display at the Genesis booth during the New York International Auto Show starting April 18, and later at Genesis House New York in the Meatpacking District through the end of July.
