At a presentation shortly following the shareholder meeting, Tesla CEO Elon Musk talked about how difficult it is to make cars. Who knew?
He acknowledged that it’s important to have suppliers near manufacturing facility. He talked about how having Giga Austin will help deliver cars to the east coast easier because it’s two-thirds of the way there. He talked about how building a car in the country you sell it reduces costs and delivery times.
It’s like, as columnist Brad Brownell tweeted, “I think Elon just discovered The Toyota Way.”
Now we just expect him to talk about kaizen.
