Chevrolet recalls 2025 Equinox EV for brake software issue

General Motors has announced a recall affecting certain 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV all-wheel-drive electric vehicles. This recall, identified under NHTSA Campaign Number 25V-012, impacts approximately 2,890 units. The issue relates to the adaptive cruise control system, which may not engage the brakes as intended due to a malfunction in the brake module software. This defect poses an increased risk of crash, as the vehicle may fail to automatically brake when necessary.

To address this problem, GM will provide a software calibration update for the brake system control module at no cost to the vehicle owners. Notification letters are scheduled to be sent out on March 3, 2025.
