2025 Daytona 500 pace car goes all-electric

Chevrolet is set to feature the 2025 Blazer EV SS as the official pace car for the 67th Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on February 16, 2025. This model is noted as the fastest SS variant produced by Chevrolet, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, with a power output of 615 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. The pace car will be a standard production model, distinguished by custom graphics and strobe lighting, without any performance modifications.

The Blazer EV SS includes features such as front Brembo brakes, a sport-tuned chassis, a 17.7-inch-diagonal color touchscreen, and standard Super Cruise driver assistance technology. It also offers an EPA-estimated range of 303 miles. This event marks the first occasion a Blazer has served as the pace car for the Daytona 500 and the first time an electric vehicle has held this role. Chevrolet has previously led the Daytona 500 field 16 times.

In addition to the Blazer EV SS, Chevrolet will introduce the Blazer EV.R NASCAR Prototype at the event, which is part of a collaborative effort to explore new automotive technologies. Chevrolet is also responsible for pacing other races during the weekend; the Corvette Stingray will pace the Xfinity Series race, while the Chevrolet Silverado RST will serve as the pace vehicle for the Craftsman Truck Series.

Chevrolet maintains a longstanding partnership with Daytona International Speedway, having achieved significant success in NASCAR, including winning all three Manufacturers’ Championships in 2024 and holding a record of 102 wins at Daytona, including 26 Daytona 500 victories. The defending champion of the Daytona 500 is William Byron, who drives for Hendrick Motorsports. Race attendees will have the opportunity to view the Blazer EV SS, Blazer EV.R, Corvette Stingray, and Silverado RST at Chevrolet display areas during the event.
