Pre-orders for the all-new 2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale are now available, with the plug-in hybrid crossover starting from $44,590 including $1,595 in destination. Those interested in securing one of the first units will have to pre-order either the Tonale Ti or Tonale Veloce trim levels, which start from $46,590 and $49,090, respectively. The base model Tonale Sprint with the $44,590 starting price will be available later in the first quarter of 2023.
Boasting a 1.3-liter turbocharged engine paired with a 90-kW electric motor, the Alfa Romeo Tonale delivers a total system output of 285 horsepower, giving it best-in-class performance along with all-wheel drive. The Italian automaker estimates torque to be around 350 pound-feet, which is good enough to propel the Tonale from zero-to-60 mph in 6 seconds. Equipped with a 15.5-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the crossover will deliver an all-electric range of around 30 miles. Total range should be approximately 320 miles, resulting in an estimated 75 MPGe. With a Level 2 charger, the Tonale will take about 2.5 hours to fully charge.

Although it’s competing in an already crowded segment, the plug-in Tonale does manage to stand out from the crowd with its signature Alfa Romeo styling and compelling performance figures. Inside, owners get a 12.3-inch Cannocchiale Digital Instrument Display featuring sleek curves and configurable performance features. For infotainment, there is a 10.25-inch Multi-Touch Display with Alexa, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto compatibilities, powered by Uconnect 5.
